Tony has been involved in motor sport since he was 8 years old. Having raced karts successfully up to 1998, he then moved into Formula Ford, winning all 3 Irish Championships in 1999. Three successful years in British Formula Ford were then followed by Tony's academic career which was every bit as successful as his racing career. At Queens University Belfast, Tony very successfully completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2004 Tony graduated with a First Class Honours Degree and received the "McCormick" Prize for the most innovative design related project. Tony also received an award for the best use of computer resources for a design based project. He then began a PhD at Queens University with the computer aided design of high performance four stroke engines. However, before his PhD was completed in 2006, the success of Tony's business career was becoming already apparent when he started up Trinity Race Engine Development Ltd (TRED). The PhD is now on the back burner as Tony strives to develop Kart Racing Engines with the same enthusiasm and great passion that he has consistently shown throughout both his sporting and academic careers so far.
Tommy is the oldest member of the TRED team. Having guided Tony successfully throughout his karting and car racing career, his experience is both invaluable and a vital input to the TRED pursuit of excellence. Tommy, having now been involved in karting for over forty years, has wealth of knowledge which compliments Tony's innovative perfectly. There is quite simply nothing that Tommy can't put his mind to. One of the most logical and sometimes candid characters in the game his ideas are unique and very much outside the box, something which is essential to gain that edge.
Uel is the newest member of the TRED team. A friend of Tony since the days at Queens University Belfast, Uel received his PhD from QUB in 2008. Uel is renowned for showing meticulous attention to detail and has brought a new dimension to TRED's research and development procedures. Not content with building of engines, Uel's responsibility in the team is to drive forward development and to establish new methods and techniques to improve every aspect of engine performance and reliability.
Frances deals with the day to day office activities at TRED. She will be the friendly voice you hear when you call. Frances is responsible for accounts and generally ensures things run smoothly in the TRED office.
